Standing up a Treasury function - How EY supported the MetLife spin-off of Brighthouse

In 2016 MetLife decided to spin-off Brighthouse from MetLife. Hear how EY helped plan, design, and support the establishment of a Treasury department throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Jin Yang is a Los Angeles-based Senior in Ernst & Young LLP's Treasury Services practice with 6 years of treasury and finance experience. His areas of treasury expertise include cash and liquidity management, interest expense forecasting, share repurchase programs, treasury policies and controls, financial risk management, hedge accounting, and commercial paper programs.

Jin joined EY from Colgate-Palmolive Company's treasury department. During his time at Colgate-Palmolive, Jin worked closely with the Assistant Treasurer and Directors as his responsibilities rotated through various treasury roles. Jin holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accountancy from Georgia State University as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a Certified Treasury Professional.

Sandra Tullis is a Senior Manager in EY's Global Treasury Services practice and has been with EY for 3 years. Sandra leverages 20 years of industry experience with US and international companies based in the Bay Area and is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP). She holds an MBA from Thunderbird and is a respected speaker at national and regional Treasury conferences.

During her tenure at EY, Sandra has led the treasury due diligence processes for several payment remitter acquisition targets and has audited treasury policies and controls for companies of all sizes.Sandra has led international banking RFPs and has engaged with a multitude of international banks to create credit syndications, asset securitizations and factoring agreements. Most recently she led integration planning efforts for a 40BN acquisition at a Fortune 100 company and created an overseas in-house-bank for an 8BN software firm.

Unclaimed Property - The Top Ten Things Financial Professionals Should Know

Unclaimed property can be confusing, but the risks of material undisclosed liabilities are very real. Companies are aware of unclaimed property and how it arises, but often feel that the rules surrounding unclaimed property are confusing and contradict many of their standard procedures. This presentation highlights important industry concepts critical to this regulatory requirement.

Matthew Chenowth is a Senior Manager in the Unclaimed Property Practice of True
Partners Consulting LLC. Matthew has extensive experience in unclaimed property
consulting, specializing in the development and implementation of planning
opportunities, as well as the performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews, and audit
defense.

Matthew has over thirteen years of experience working in public accounting.
Matthew also spent three years in the tax department at a large entertainment company
where he assisted on numerous mergers and acquisitions allowing him to gain experience
in the technical issues surrounding corporate restructurings.

Over 20 years of experience in unclaimed property, and state and local tax including both industry practice and public accounting consulting. Matthew is recognized as an authority in the design and implementation of unclaimed property planning opportunities, and has extensive experience in working with retailers in all industry segments to develop solutions tailored to their specific industry needs and fact patterns. In addition, Matthew also has experience in unclaimed property consulting for the healthcare, manufacturing, and entertainment industries. Matthew has represented Fortune 500 clients in the defense of unclaimed property audits, in the performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews, and in the development and implementation of planning opportunities.

Aaron Kezele is a Senior Manager in the Unclaimed Property Practice in True Partner's
Consulting's Los Angeles office. He has been a part of True Partners since 2008 during
which time Aaron has specialized in unclaimed property consulting with a focus on the
analysis, quantification and mitigation of potential unclaimed property exposure,
coupled with the strategic defense for unclaimed property audits and voluntary
disclosure agreements. He has assisted numerous Fortune 500 and middle market
companies across multiple industries. Aaron also has significant experience in the
identification and implementation of policies and procedures, as well as general
unclaimed property annual compliance.

Aaron has represented numerous Fortune 500 clients in the defense of unclaimed property audits and in the
performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews.
Aaron has extensive experience in unclaimed property consulting for both public and private clients of various sizes in numerous industries including manufacturing, distribution, retail, financial services, transportation, and healthcare. Aaron is well versed in all aspects of the annual unclaimed property compliance process for all U.S. reporting jurisdictions, including assisting clients in with due diligence, error and exemption analysis, preparation of state unclaimed property reports, as well as the development of internal procedures to streamline companies' annual unclaimed property reporting processes.

Aaron has spoken before numerous trade and professional organizations including UPPO (Unclaimed Property
Professionals Organization) and NACM (National Association of Credit Management) on multiple topics including Compliance Best Practices, Audit Defense, and Voluntary Disclosures.
